Ishmaiel “Big Ish” Deen-Conteh joins the Zumi Fight House team as Matchmaker.
Zumi Fight House has added Ishmaiel Deen-Conteh, known across the circuit as Big Ish, to its team as a Matchmaker. Ishmaiel arrives with experience on both sides of the ropes, having competed under the Zumi banner and now working behind the scenes to build the fights fans want to see.
A Record Built in the Ring
Ishmaiel competes as a WBU champion and a winner of the London Capital Box Cup, credentials earned against genuine opposition rather than handed over. Before stepping into his role behind the scenes, he competed at Zumi Fight House and came through those appearances undefeated, and he later transitioned to amateur boxing.
That combination matters for the job he is taking on. Ishmaiel understands what a fighter carries into a contest because he has carried it himself.
From Fighter to Matchmaker
Matchmaking is judgement work. It means reading styles, weighing experience, and understanding what a fighter is ready for rather than simply what looks good on a poster. Ishmaiel brings a fighter’s perspective to that process, an understanding of preparation, timing and development that only comes from having competed.
He is clear about why the work matters. Ishmaiel believes boxing changes lives, and that fighters given the right support consistently achieve more than they thought possible. That belief shapes how he approaches every matchup he puts together.
His Role at Zumi Fight House
Ishmaiel will take a leading role in shaping Zumi’s boxing matchups, bringing fresh thinking to how the promotion builds its cards. His appointment forms part of a wider focus at Zumi Fight House on improving the experience for fighters and widening the opportunities available to them.
The aim is straightforward: competitive fights, made properly, on a platform that gives fighters somewhere to go.
